thesis statements main ideas

Recall from Week 1 that main ideas and thesis sentences are really two sides of the same coin. Writers create thesis sentences. Readers pick out the main idea from what they read, which is usually the thesis sentence of the writer. This week, you continue practicing writing thesis sentences and sentence outlines. By Day 7 Locate one additional article related to one of this week’s case study topics, other than the one you used in your Discussion. Complete the Source Quality Rating Document found in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Determine the main idea of the article. After you have determined the main idea of the article, craft your own thesis in response to the article’s main idea. You may create a thesis statement which agrees with the article’s main idea, or you may create a thesis statement which disagrees with the article’s main idea. Once you have created your own thesis statement, develop a sentence outline which supports your thesis. There is an example Week 1 Assignment 2 document, located in the Week 1 Learning Resources. You may also use this example for Week 2 Assignment 2.  Be sure to provide attribution, using APA formatting, for any sources used.  Create one document that includes: The thesis statement and the sentence outline you created Your completed Source Quality Rating document

Analyzing Basic Applied Research

There are very different views of what types of evidence are most credible in evaluating the effectiveness of psychological treatment research. In this discussion you will analyze basic applied psychological research as well as evaluate how researchers applied a research process in the development of specific components. To begin, read the following articles (which can be accessed through the ProQuest database in the Ashford University Library):“Evidence-Based Practice in Psychology: Implications for Research and Research Training”“Practice-Based Evidence: Back to the Future”“Psychological Treatments: Putting Evidence into Practice and Practice into Evidence”

After reading the articles listed above, select two of them.  Analyze the basic applied research within each of your two selected articles by answering the following questions:What is the main point-of-view in each article? What are the primary assumptions each author makes?Which author are you inclined to agree with?  Support your choice with scholarly reasoning and cite your evidence.

You are required to include one peer-reviewed source that was published within the last five years to support your perspective.  You may not use any of the sources that were assigned for this course.  For assistance finding articles view the “Searching for Articles” and the “Peer-Reviewed Articles” tutorials which are available under Tutorials on the Getting Research Help tab at the top of the Ashford University Library homepage.

brief summary of psychology

Provide a brief summary of the psychology program. Report admission requirements, required courses, and pre-admission requirements (as available), and discuss why you are interested. What are the pros and cons of the psychology program as they relate to your lifestyle? Consider variables such as geographic location (South Carolina), cost, etc. Describe what the regulatory and licensure requirements may be for psychology (e.g., if your chosen field of study is law school, visit your state board of law examiners website to learn what the requirements are for practicing as a lawyer in your state).

Human Services Models

  Human Services Models

There are many different types of human services providers and agencies serving clients. An understanding of the different theoretical models to these services will make you familiar with how clients are served in various agency settings, to prepare you for what you might encounter in nonprofit agencies.

In this assignment, you will explore the different approaches to human services delivery. You will also research the roles of nonprofit agencies.

Tasks:

There are competing models of human services approaches. Many of these models are examined in this module. Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research these models further.

Demonstrate your understanding of two competing models by responding to the following: Discuss the Rational-Legal model with relevant examples of two types of human services agencies currently using this approach. Discuss the differences between the human services approach and the Political-Economy model. You should emphasize the influence each approach has on direct service delivery. Discuss the primary role of nonprofit agencies in human services.

Submission Details: By the due date assigned, post your responses to this Discussion Area

you’ll be doing a “mini research paper”. The National Institute for Mental Health has an abundance of information about mental health and mental illness. Pick a topic from their topics list and explore their information. https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/index.shtml

THE TOPIC I CHOOSE WAS DEPRESSION

1. What is the topic you chose?

2. Give us 4 interesting symptoms/pieces of information that are related to your topic.

3. What are some 2-3 interest stats regarding your topic? (scroll down to the bottom of the page to find links to statistics on your topic)

4. Mental health still carries a stigma. What are some ways we can help to eliminate the stigma of being diagnosed with a mental illness? (you may want to explore this website: https://bringchange2mind.org).

Feel free to add any more interesting tidbits you discover about the topic you chose. Look around the websites and learn some more about mental health.

Remember that this needs to be like a research paper. a minimum of 5 paragraphs and you need to include some citations and any references you use (you’ll need to include the NIMH website link for your chosen topic and any other sites you used).
