NSG100 Stratford Wk 4 Delegation of Nursing Tasks and Procedures Questions

Written Assignment for Week 4

Used the resources listed in week 4 to assist you in answering these questions-the answers should be used to study for the midterm and final exam.

After answering the questions, please upload to the site listed for the homework assignment.

The first section has to do with delegation, which we will have covered in discussing ethical provisions 4-6. This is a very important part of how you as a nurse will make decisions about patient care and accountability for that care. Nursing school and licensing questions will require that you understand delegation, so please look at this as a very important subject and read and answer for understanding, not just to answer the questions.

Please explain these in your own words as much as possible.

  1. What is delegation?
  2. What is supervision?
  3. What is the meaning of the term unlicensed person?
  4. What are the 6 criteria that must be addressed by the entity (the organization providing the care) before delegation of nursing tasks can occur.
  5. What are the 5 criteria that must be met before delegation can occur.
  6. What additional criteria are covered by sections C and D
  7. What assessment is required prior to delegation?
  8. What is involved in supervision of delegated tasks?
  9. What nursing tasks cannot be delegated?

Using the Ethical and Legal Issues Power point, answer the following

(There is more information on this power point than we will use in NSG 100. NSG 110 will address legal issues and will not be duplicated here. But legal and ethical issues can be intertwined. Your focus for this class is the questions below.

  1. What is an ethical dilemma?
  2. What are you learning as a student in NSG 100 that you can use to address an ethical dilemma?
  3. Identify the current ethical issues we are currently facing
  4. What are the 4 elements that must be proven in a case of malpractice?
  5. Identify critical ethical and legal patient-oriented issues.

Using the Code of Ethics power point and your book,

  1. List each provision and the sentence that description of each provision
  2. Based on what we have discussed so far in class and your review of the power point, describe one dilemma you think you might encounter in nursing that you would depend on this code to address. (This does not need to be long and involved, but what situation do you think you might have to face as a nurse that you could think back to this class and use what you have learned to address it.)

Public health disasters, health and medicine homework help

Read through the emergency disasters below. Select one of these scenarios and then complete the following steps:

Imagine you are the director of FEMA using NIMS when this disaster occurs.

  • Develop a PSA (using either Screencast or video) that informs the population of what will be done to resolve the issue. Address these elements in your video:
    • Describe the nature of the situation.
    • Explain what FEMA and others are doing to mitigate the situation.
    • Explain what people need to do to stay safe and/or to get help in order to reduce panic.
  • Your vocal tone should be one that is meant to reduce panic and provide a solid explanation of the above elements.
  • Copy and paste the URL to your video or screencast within your discussion forum response. If you are unable to create a YouTube video for this discussion, you may use a screencast program. However, you do not need to develop a PowerPoint presentation. This discussion is meant to assess your communication abilities, therefore, the audio portion of the video and/or screencast is essential. If you elect to use the screencast option, you may simply use a picture of yourself reporting the above information in lieu of a PowerPoint.

Questions to think about while formulating your response to the public:

  • What are the issues you will address first?
  • Which organization is responsible for what? Where will you allocate your resources?
  • What public health concerns are the results of each of these events?
  • Which populations might be most at risk?
  • What are some of the long-term health effects of these events?
  • What other health concerns may arise from these events?
  • What will you say to the people, who are desperately awaiting your direction?

Mangaement of Health Programs Case 2

Assignment Overview

Health care management requires leadership skills which will test your ability to make vital decisions. “Like a rapidly mutating cancer cell, poor leadership within healthcare systems can cause toxic symptoms that adversely impact organizational work cultures and staff satisfaction and lead to burnout” (Werberg, 2010, para. 1). Assessments made by leadership have a direct relation to many areas, including but not limited to the following: The quality of care provided, staff morale, and organizational reputation. As a trailblazer of your organization, you will use effective leadership skills to manage/avoid conflict, make effective recommendations, manage staff, and protect the overall quality/efficiency of the organization. To make effective decisions as a leader you should identify the major facts, indicate if or what problems exist, and finally, recommend a solution.

This assignment requires you to review a practical case study and analyze the elements of poor leadership. The case study also explores characteristics of a health care leader while introducing safety culture. Your assessment and responses to the realistic scenario should be based off leadership attributes.

  1. Major Facts – Summarize the facts in the case. This includes the most important incidents in the case. Avoid simply restating the case.
  2. Problem(s) – From the facts it should reveal the problems that need attention. Specify those problems and explain their significance.
  3. Solution and Expected Outcome – Recommend a solution, and for each recommendation provide an action on how it would be implemented. For each solution provide your expected outcome.

Science in the media

Science in the Media

There is nothing like reading a good book or watching a great movie for a little escapism and entertainment. With all of the television channels available and easy access to the internet, you can watch just about anything you want at any time. Earlier in the course you discussed the science involved with technology, but in this Assignment, you will turn the tables and delve into how the media portrays science.

How does a pop culture portrayal of science and scientists impact the average person’s view of what science is and how research is conducted? Can what is presented by the media affect how the general populace views a particular research field? What might the long-term impacts of such a depiction be? These are just a few questions that you will reflect upon in this Assignment.

For the Unit 9 Assignment, you will complete a reflective essay to address the following questions:

  1. When you hear the word “scientist” what do you envision?
    1. Discuss at least three characteristics of your vision of a scientist.
    2. Which famous people or characters from the media come into your mind?
    3. What characteristics do they have in common?
  2. Has your image of what a scientist does and how they look changed over time? If so, how has this changed and what influenced you?
  3. Are fictional scientists usually the heroes, villains, or a combination of the two? Provide at least two detailed examples to support your position.
  4. How is science portrayed in fictional media (i.e., television shows, movies, music, books, etc.)? Is it seen as a positive, negative, or neutral force in the world? Give specific examples supporting your position.
  5. Do you think the portrayal of scientists in the various forms of media influences how society views people in this profession? Why, or why not?
  6. Can the portrayal of science in media influence how certain research and technology is viewed and accepted by the general public (e.g., cloning)?
