Does this do anything to protect data from misuse and why?

Encryption and the protection of data, none of these measures guarantee’s security, given that, what sort of protection plan could you secure that would include the backing up of data that is always necessary to function and keep an accurate copy of the data you desire.  Does this do anything to protect data from misuse and why?
